USGS scientists and 2024 interns collecting samples in Denali National Park.

This internship is a partnership between the USGS Alaska Science Center, the Alaska Climate Adaptation Science Center (AK CASC), and the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). The mission of the USGS Alaska Science Center is to provide objective and timely data, information, and research findings about the earth and its flora and fauna to resource managers and the public to support sound decisions in Alaska and circumpolar regions. The Alaska Climate Adaptation Science Center provides scientific information, tools, and techniques that managers and others interested in land, water, wildlife, and cultural resources can use to adapt to climate change. The partnership between USGS, AK CASC, and UAF creates a unique platform to educate and engage audiences around Alaska and beyond in the exciting science taking place, much of it focused on understanding our changing climate and how to respond.

As an intern, you will work with USGS and AK CASC scientists and communications experts to develop science communication materials for a variety of Alaska audiences. Products might include summaries and resources for decision-makers, feature style written articles, digital products like Story Maps, videos, or print brochures or posters.
