Gigi Friedman
Gigi is the Program Coordinator for the AK CASC, where she collaborates with staff, researchers, and students to advance the program’s goals. She first joined the AK CASC as a science communication intern, an experience that strengthened her commitment to connecting research with the communities it serves.
Originally from the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Gigi developed an early appreciation for coastal landscapes and the environmental challenges facing them. Growing up in a region shaped by climate change and sea-level rise sparked her motivation to study the environment and contribute to climate adaptation efforts. She now resides in Fairbanks, Alaska, where she continues to engage with environmental initiatives within the AK CASC. Gigi holds a B.S.F.S. in Science, Technology, and International Affairs from Georgetown University, with a focus on energy and the environment. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring and spending time outdoors.
