Coastal Flood Mapping and Planning: Part III
This session highlights Norton Sound tribal community planning for changing coastal flood conditions. It circles back to previous AK TRLN Information Sessions from May and September 2024 focused on coastal mapping. We get an update from the U.S. Geological Survey about coastal flood mapping and web tools to support community planning, and how the information can be applied. Flood maps are available for Unalakleet, Golovin, Elim, and Utqiagvik that show future conditions, including sea-level rise and storm scenarios. An additional 10-13 communities along the west coast of Alaska will be completed in 2026.
