The Native American Fish and Wildlife Society (NAFWS), which has recently been selected to provide ongoing support for the Alaska Regional Tribal Resilience Liaison program, is hiring a Senior Tribal Climate Resilience Liaison who will work with the Alaska CASC to build collaborative and meaningful relationships between the UAF/USGS partnership and Alaska Native Tribes and other entities in order to address management and adaptation needs across the state.
The Senior Tribal Climate Resilience Liaison (Sr. TCRL) for the Alaska CASC serves as the lead on Alaska tribal climate adaptation science needs under the guidance and direction of the Executive Director of the Native American Fish and Wildlife Society. The Sr. TCRL is responsible for providing technical assistance and working with tribal communities across Alaska to improve their capacity to prepare for and respond to climate-related environmental impacts. Duties include but are not limited to outreach and extension programming on tribal climate impacts, concerns and adaptation strategies; lead efforts to enhance information exchange; assist communities to identify and prioritize resilience and adaptation projects; and supervise two Assistant Tribal Climate Resilience Liaisons and a seasonal Alaska Native Student Intern.

Position Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in one or more of the following: physical sciences, biological/ecological sciences, natural resources, or relevant social sciences from an accredited university
- At least three (3) years of experience supporting tribal needs related to climate adaptation and other environmental challenges in Alaska

This position is funded for one year by the Department of Interior. While NAFWS and the AK CASC are working on making this a long-term position, this is contingent upon availability of funds.
This is a full-time salary supervisor position. Salary is commensurate with experience, education and work history. Incumbent is subject to a pre-employment background screen. Will be required to serve a 90-day probationary period. Duty station will be Anchorage or Fairbanks, AK.
