Project Summary

This project promotes food security in Southeast Alaska by partnering with communities to understand environmental drivers of highbush blueberry abundance, a culturally and nutritionally important wild food. Through co-designed vegetation surveys and analyses across contrasting sites, the team will identify conditions that support high berry productivity and generate insights to inform forest management. The work also lays the groundwork for future collaborations to support the long-term availability of this important wild food.
