Andy is a biologist with the National CASC’s Climate Adaptation Technical Services (CATS) program. As part of his role with the CATS program, he serves as a liaison to the Alaska CASC as well as the Pacific Islands CASC to conduct novel analyses on existing science products and provides curated scientific interpretation for land and resource management partners to support climate adaptation. Andy holds a BA from Colby College, an MS from University of New Hampshire, and a PhD from University of Idaho and joined USGS following a NASA postdoctoral program fellowship and work with the nonprofit Conservation Science Partners. His research background is in terrestrial ecology with a focus on vegetation dynamics in response to changing environmental and climatic conditions. Complementing over a decade of experience studying Arctic and boreal ecosystems, Andy is interested in diverse ecosystems and leveraging remotely sensed and field observations along with biophysical models to support applications of global change science.
Andy grew up in New England and lived across several northeast and western states prior to moving to Anchorage, where he enjoys exploring the Chugach and Talkeetna Mountains throughout the year.
