Stephanie Wright
Stephanie Larie Wright was originally born in Baltimore, Maryland but now calls Fairbanks home where she lives, works, and enjoys the ancestral lands of the Dene people of the lower Tanana River. She is the youngest of five siblings with a big mixed family. Her parents, and their partners, now reside in Georgia.
Stephanie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and Philosophy from Transylvania University and went on to work as a lighting and broadcast technician aboard cruise ships. Her time traveling the seven seas allowed her to learn from and connect with many cultures and people around the world. Inspired by her experiences, she pursued a Master of Professional Science in Exploration Science from the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Sciences at the University of Miami. Her graduate project focused on impacts and applications of community science and 3D media to support local ecosystem management initiatives.
After completing her degree, Stephanie moved to Fairbanks for a fellowship with Inspiring Girls Expeditions Alaska, where she fell in love with the vibrant community, striking mountains, and nearly year-round winter sports. Currently, she works as a Technology Transfer Associate at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization and is excited to grow along with the other members in the AK CASC fellows program.
Stephanie serves on the board of directors for Fairbanks Roller Derby and spends much of her time cross-country skiing, trail running, and learning how to be a thoughtful steward of the place she now calls home.
