Lauren Yancy
Lauren Yancy is a UAF CFOS Fisheries M.S. Student. Her project will assess the impacts that rusting rivers in Northwest Alaska, specifically the Wulik River drainage, has on stream biota. Lauren also works as a Habitat Biologist with ADF&G, where she’s had the opportunity to explore Northwest Alaska, and has seen first hand melting permafrost seeps that are degrading water quality and the surrounding ecosystem. Her project leverages a long-term dataset collected by ADF&G as well as new data investigating the viability of using otolith microchemistry to track Dolly Varden movements in rusted rivers.
