Green Crab Invasion – A Community Action Approach to Resilience Against Invasive Species in Southern Southeast Alaska
In 2022 European Green Crab were identified in Alaska for the first time raising alarm about the impact they will have on native fish, shellfish, and grass species. This session explored the European Green Crab monitoring efforts being led by the Metlakatla Indian Community and education and outreach efforts supported by the AK CASC Ambassadors program that have led to the detection of the species in other areas.
